| Customer Reviews: Perfect for gamers on the go August 1, 2009 Nicholas Wood 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is ecxellent for people who have their GBA SPs on the go alot. Like the name says, you can use it in the car or at home. It's basically two chargers in one. I recommend buying this as soon as possible.
Gameboy adapter May 12, 2009 Brenda M. Platt (Kansas, USA) Very handy product to have regardless of where you are (at home or in the car).
Compact Yet Has A Major Flaw. May 13, 2010 Nick (ARLINGTON, TX, US) This product is great for gamers on the go, like other reviewers have said, it has a retractable charge cord, can charge in the car, and is generally small and portable.
But the designers managed to screw a couple things up. What the picture doesn't show you, it that the car adapter, that you can slightly see on the underside in the picture, is actually protruding the same length as the AC plug. Even when tilted flush to the underside, the car adapter is the same length. This poses a problem when, hm, someone wishes to charge something in a wall plug. Other than this MAJOR flaw in the charger design (the inability to charge) there are a couple other problems as well.
The charger "prongs" flip into the casing, making the design more ergonomic. However, to get the charger "teeth/prongs" out again, one must slide a rough, small, and very, very resistant switch to make it pop back out again. For those you do not like to, say open soda cans, or break their nails against hard plastic, this poses as a problem when attempting to utilize the charger. So, if you can somehow manage to get the prongs out, then tilt the charger precariously upside down on the wall plug, so that it is partially plugged in, then there is yet another problem.
For those of us who like to charge our phones, or Gameboy during the night when we are not using them, there is a very convenient green light on the top of the charger to notify you that you are charging it. Now, this wouldn't be a problem if the light wasn't bright enough to keep you up at night, but if you happen to have a child that has a night light, try using this instead.
Other than those major flaws in the design, it is compact, that rotational car charging part is clunky, but works, and the retractable cord is weak and needs assistance pushing the cord back in.
not pleased May 15, 2010 B. Grubbs (TX) I was not pleased with my purchase! I ordered what I thought to be a "travel" charger -- from the description AND picture of the item. What I was sent was a plain charger that I already have! I wanted a charger that could be plugged into a car outlet (the old cigarette lighter outlets in cars) so that my son could play his Gameboy while we are in the car (mainly for our vacation drive this summer). So, because I was sent a plain charger I had to go purchase a converter that plugs into the car outlets and gives you a regular plug so that the "plain" charger that I now have 2 of can be used.....more money that I had to spend, because I was not sent the item that I paid for!!!
