5 out of 5 stars Carrying Cases for the Original GBA and tips on how to keep the original GBA in tip top shape for daily activities.   June 13, 2008

Guess What I found out besides from the Game Boy And Game Boy Color this system the Original Game Boy Advance has a wide variety of Carrying Cases.

These types of carrying cases will fit the Original GBA with out any problem what so ever I know becuase I have the original GBA and I was tinkering around with a few of the carrying cases I had to see what all would work and what all would fit the original GBA as far as carrying cases go. So if you want to get something different besides from pokemon I've listed a wide variety of different style cases that will in fact fit the original GBA. I also researched what some of the carrying cases amazon has and these are the carrying cases they have. Each one of these carrying cases even though they are for different game systems that does not mean that they will not fit the original GBA because they will. So here are the different types and styles of carrying cases that will in fact fit the original GBA:

1. Barbie Organizer - Game Boy
2. Any Pokemon Carrying Cases - Game Boy
3. Any Pokemon Carrying Cases - Game Boy Color
4. SpongeBob Carrying Cases - Game Boy Advance
5. X-men Evolution - Game Boy Advance
6. Batman Begins - Nintendo DS
7. Cars Carrying Case - Nintendo DS Lite
8. Simpsons Carrying Cases - Nintendo DS Lite
9. Mario - Nintendo DS Lite
10. Kirby - Nintendo DS Lite
11. Zelda - Nintendo DS Lite
12. Guitar Hero - Nintendo DS Lite

These carrying cases I have just listed up above all fit the Original Game Boy Advance personally I would go for the DS cases they are better. But if your old school then go for pokemon they work just the same and they cost less.

As far as the original Pink Game Boy Advance goes it is with out a dout a very nice gaming system. I think personally one of the best for the original game boy advance systems they ever came out with just because you can look inside the game system and see all the mechanical parts. It's very interesting and this game system can play the Game Boy games, Game Boy Color games, and Game Boy Advance games too. As far as the screen being dark like what some of the other reviewer's have said just buy a goofy wormlight it fix's the problem really quickly or if you can't afford a wormlight then just play where there's light. Don't play in the dark if you don't have a wormlight and if your trying to conserve on batteries then buy a battery pack for the game system that's what I did I never have to worry about the batteries running low or nothing like that. Anymore and they say the wormlight eat's a little at the batteries, it doesn't so if you have heard that don't believe it. If your getting the pink game boy advance remember to get these with it to conserve on time and money.

First rule of thumb get your merchandise on amazon everything cost less and is more affordable.

Second here's what you need for this game system:

1. Wormlight Advance
2. GBA Rechargeable Battery Pack
3. A good sturdy carrying case you do not want to get a dirt cheap carrying case because it might fall apart a year later. Get a good strong carrying case that will last for a good few many years depending on how long you have the game system for.
4. Gel Shock Protector
5. Saitek Advanced Playable Protective Case - protect's the original GBA from:
(Water, Sand, Dirt, Smudges, Scratches, Plus you can play the original GBA with this protective case on the GBA system.
6. Link Cable (In case your playing pokemon or want to send a friend pictures or text messages).
7. Headphones (In case you have brothers or sisters who are really loud and you just want to tune them out).
8. Radio - (To listen to music. They have radio's for GBC, original GBA, GBA SP, and Nintendo DS Lite.)
9. Camera - There are several different styles of camera's for the GBA so have fun and take as many pictures as you want.

That's all you really need for the game system unless your like me and like to accessorize the original GBA. PLEASE I CAN NOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH DO NOT GO AND PURPOSELY DROP THIS SYSTEM IT IS A HANDHELD DEVICE MEANT FOR PLAYING NOT MEANT TO TEST THE DURABLITY OF. The only reason why I stress that is because if you have ever read any of the reviews for the original Game Boy or Game Boy Color people in the review's that they wrote they said that they were trying to test the boundaries and durablity of the game system's these game systems are not meant for that type of experimentation if you have a warranty on the system when you first buy the game system then by all means if you don't care then go for it. But either me or my parent's got each of my game systems for me and I know how much each and indiviually they cost they are not worth trying to test the durablity of they cost way to much money to go and do something that stupid. So if you care about your game systems treat them right and take excellent care of them don't go and trash your game systems and if your game system doesn't work or you need a new part do not throw away the system buy new parts for it and take good care of the game system.

They make these things to work for a long time so buying them used is worth saving money. Just be sure yours has the battery cover with it if you're shopping for a used one. They are great for small kids as well.

For those of you who may be confused, the advance is the large wide version of the game boy and the advance SP is the newer folding version which includes a back light.
Now, as for the game boy advance, it's lovable. The picture quality and games are great. I loved mine to death, unfortunately.
However...the screen is dark, so very dark.
It is difficult to see but you can buy light attachments for it (just like the classic game boy) and I recommend the bulky version that clamps directly to the unit instead of the light bulb on a wire, as it makes glare.

Despite this overlooked flaw (Nintendo what were you thinking!!!), I highly recommend the game boy advance INSTEAD of the advance sp. Mostly because using the Sp caused me a lot of pain in my fingers and wrists because the unit is so small and cramped.

1 out of 5 stars If you prefer the original go for this, if not get the GBA SP..   June 13, 2007

I bought this for my mom because she likes the original, and hers was in horrible condition. (hers was broken from ALOT of years of use) The screen is dark and hard to see, even with the worm light i bought for it.

Unless you're like my mom and prefer the original, i would go for the SP version because they made a built in light (backlight) it does cost more but it's definately worth it in the end. I have never had any "hand cramping issues" though i suppose if you play too long on any of these units that would happen.

They're discontinuing the sp from what i understand, but you can still find what you need online.
